The following Legislation
passed in 2008 and has been signed into law
by Governor Daniels:
- Senate Bill 51
Removes the $35,000 earnings limitation a re-employed
PERF retiree can earn in a PERF covered position
and still receive his/her PERF benefit.
- Senate Bill 72
Allows a vested member who does
not initiate a monthly benefit immediately
to withdraw the annuity savings account without
losing his/her defined monthly benefit.
- Senate Bill 133
Grants a cost of living adjustment (COLA)
of 2-1/2% for retirees with an effective date of retirement prior to 1-1-2000.
$180.00 minimum for any retiree receiving
less than this amount effective January 1,
2009.
Grants a one-time check (13th Check) as follows:
Years of Service Amount
5 thru 9 (disabled) - $50.00
10 thru 19 -
$100.00
20 thru 29 -
$175.00
30 and over -$225.00
- Senate Bill 1019
Minimum disability benefit increased
from $100.00 a month to $180.00 a month
effective January 1, 2009.
Unfortunately Legislation improving benefits for active members of PERF was not passed in 2008. RIPEA will sponsor this Legislation again in 2009.
